Final Polishing Mixed Bed Ion Exchange Resin for Ultrapure Water Applications

1. Product Overview

AmberTec™ UP6040 H/OH is a non-separable, uniform particle size mixed bed ion exchange resin designed for final polishing in ultrapure water (UPW) systems in the semiconductor industry and other demanding applications. It achieves extremely low leakage of ionic species, silica, boron, total organic carbon (TOC), and sub-micron particles. In well-designed UPW systems, it delivers water with 18.2 MΩ·cm resistivity and TOC levels below 1 ppb.

3. Performance and Operating Conditions

Ultrapure Water Quality Test Results:

  • Resistivity (Salt Challenge, 10-min): ≥ 18 MΩ·cm

  • ΔTOC (2h00 Rinse): ≤ 3 ppb C

Recommended Operating Conditions:

  • Temperature Range: 15 – 25°C (59 – 77°F)

  • pH Range (Stable): 0 – 14

  • Shipping Weight: 710 g/L

4. Hydraulic Characteristics

  • Pressure Drop: Estimated pressure drop as a function of service flow rate and temperature is provided in Figure 1 (refer to original document for detailed curves).

  • Rinse Performance: Typical resistivity and TOC rinse curves as a function of rinse time are shown in Figure 2.

  • Quality Assurance: All batches are tested for resistivity rinse, TOC, and kinetic performance to meet stringent UPW requirements.

  • WARNING: Strong oxidizing agents (e.g., nitric acid) may attack the resin under certain conditions, leading to degradation or violent reactions. Consult professionals before use.
